The Cabo de Gata-NÃjar Natural Park was the first protected maritime-terrestrial space in Andalusia. Due to the contrasts between the marine, coastal and terrestrial environment, the numerous endemic species it houses and the characteristics of one of the driest ecosystems in Europe, this space was also internationally recognized by UNESCO as a Reserve of the Biosphere and World Geopark.
